Dog Wash Guidelines

It’s important to know just how often your dog should be washed to ensure their fur and skin is kept clean and hygienic. Your preferred veterinarian can provide advice on how much bathing is appropriate for your specific dog.


Below are some general guidelines:


Once a month – suitable for most dog breeds.

Dogs with oily coats – may require bathing once a week.

Short-haired breeds with smooth coats – as-needed basis.

Breeds with water-repellent coats – less often to preserve natural oils.

Dogs with thick, double coats – fewer baths, extra brushing.
